Founder Daan Kaptein (29) explains: “I love traveling, and I always used to travel with a backpack, because traditional wheeled bags are only great when roads are smooth as butter. But then an stubborn friend of mine convinced me and himself to bring a trolley bag with us on our adventure in Latin-America. It was so much more convenient than a backpack, but still also so burdensome when roads were not smooth. This journey gave me the idea for the GRINGO. Talking to many travelers gave me the insight how address the flaws in current wheeled bags: bigger wheels, more ground clearance and more adventure.”
GRINGO’s revolutionary wheel system lets you choose – with a simple and light press on the levers with your foot - between three different wheel positions, all specially designed for the different terrains that you may encounter: Smooth, Urban & Off-road. Daan started working on the GRINGO three years ago, and he quit his job as a Category Manager at Unilever last September to really pursue his dream. He is now supported by his older brother Koen (32 – finance & strategy) and their friend Job Smits van Waesberghe (29 – digital marketing) as proud team members.
